Article 7. Byredo Super Cedar, the Search for the Woody Scent
The years have brought several men’s fragrances to be trialed and adored from the classic Acqua Di Parma Colonia, Terre d’Hermès and Victor & Rolf Spicebomb. As age has moved however, new launches and specific note desires have created new focuses.
The search for a wood scent has been constant as options such as sandalwood and fern have not been a draw. This is until Byredo Super Cedar, Eau de Parfum (made in France). Virginian cedarwood is the heart note, it is neither subtle nor not overpowering with a common description of ‘resemblance to pencil shavings.’ Rose petals tone the scent with base notes of silk musk and vetiver. The simplicity and non-complexity is perfection.
It is not gender specific and is faultless for day or evening and compliments a clean style and energy (think open crisp white shirt and Scandinavian/ Japanese wood ambience).
Byredo is a modern European luxury company formed in 2006 and focused on perfume, make up, home fragrance and hand and body care, with other items in accessories category. It is distinctive and with this scent, is now potentially holding a permanent place on the fragrance shelf.
